Isha Ambani Piramal makes history! Wears a first-of-its-kind Schiaparelli saree to Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant’s sangeet ceremony

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities began on Wednesday, July 3. Today, July 5, the couple’s third function – their Sangeet, was hosted at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) and it is a star-studded bash. While celebrities put their best fashion forward on the red carpet, it’s the groom’s sister, Isha Ambani stealing the limelight with her fashion choice.

After wearing custom Chanel and Miss Sohee at Anant and Radhika’s pre-wedding celebrations in Jamnagar, and then vintage Dior and Tamara Ralph in Italy, Isha is not serving style like a queen in a custom Schiaparelli saree. Scroll below to check out her look and read some trivia about the look.

For Isha Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s Sangeet ceremony, Isha Ambani opted for an electric blue saree with an over-the-top silver detachable, sculptured blouse from Schiaparelli. While the ensemble draws inspiration from several looks showcased at Schiaparelli’s Fall 2024 collection at Paris Haute Couture Week earlier this year, is an on-of-a-kind creation by the brand under the leadership of Daniel Roseberry. This is the second time Schiaparelli has made a saree, the first was 1935.

Diet Sabya took to her social media and shared some interesting trivia about Isha Ambani’s look. She noted, “Isha’s sari is the first “modern day” Schiap by Daniel Roseberry sari because the first Schiap sari was originally in 1935 inspired by Rani Sita Devi of Kapurthala known as Princess Karam in the west”

Sabya further added, “Aside from Vogue, Princess Karam’s personal style inspired Elsa Schiaparelli. The designer incorporated sari-like evening gowns, dresses with harem pants, and long lame scarves for her 1935 collection. On being the source for one of the leading designers of the decade, Princess Karam exclaimed, “I was thrilled to see that some of the dressmakers were actually inspired for their new models this year by some of the saris I wore in the summer of 1934” (“Beauty In India Ncess Karam Of Kapurthala Karam, Princess,” 1935, p. 72) (6).”

Anant and Radhika’s wedding ceremonies will kick off on July 12. The first ceremony of the 3-day-long festivities will be the auspicious Shubh Vivah – for which the dress code is Indian traditional. July 13 is the Shubh Aashirwad, and the dress code for the same is Indian formal. The wedding festivities will conclude on July 14 with the Mangal Utsav or the wedding reception. The dress code for this is Indian chic. All these functions will be held at the Jio World Centre in BKC.
